The Unwed Teenage Mothers
We've got some exciting things coming your way this summer. First up is a new EP from The Unwed Teenage Mothers.
The Mothers unquestionably prove that they can hold their own in a world measured up against a Marked Men-level of pop songwriting. There is a classic urgency swelling in the heart of each of these four tracks with influence pulled from 70s powerpop filtered through a driving, burning swagger. Distorted guitar tones cut through chiming, punchy melodies at key moments, effectively forcing a restless confusion into the hook-laden tracks. Behind the manic mask of hyper-active ADD jitteriness, lies a somewhat despairing, familiar undercurrent which works to lend the music a certain depth and relatability. If you're looking still for that close-out summer soundtrack or even just a party pleaser, these guys are here to help. This is rock'n'roll for the disheartened and it's perfect. - Chaz Martenstein (Bull City Records)
7" limited to 300 copies.
Listen to the first single over at Get Bent! (here)
and other press from Record Turnover, Styrofoam Drone, Wax Trash
